Teacake Travel Shop
Packing for a trip is a fine art! I’ve been travelling since 2010 and am still perfecting what I need. Yet, I’m at a point where I’m confident I’ve got the essentials down. To save you the hassle and get straight to the goodies, here’s my favourite travel essentials and gear in one place.
Take note: There’s specific girl stuff in here (boys, you can skip out on that bit) and different weather conditions are going to call for different items. Yet overall, this shop will show you everything I believe to be perfect for your next adventure! Aside from all this gear, please remember to get one thing: travel insurance.
I’m a firm believer in getting as small a backpack as possible. Bigger = more space = you’ll pack unnecessary items = a deadweight to carry. Top-loading backpacks are more durable BUT they make finding things harder. If you choose top-loading, make sure you get packing cubes.
I like to capture my travels in a fun and easy way, with lightweight gear. My smartphone does most of the work!
My favourite travel technology bits and bobs that I really can’t do without.
Clothes and Shoes
You need way less than you think. Pack light! You can find out exactly what number I take of everything in my backpacking packing list. Don’t dismiss the ‘adventure’ gloves (which are actually for weightlifting): they’re perfect for hiking up big rocks and motorbiking! I do have an obsession with vintage clothes and FLORALS. Small on space and travelling for some time? Skip out on the hiking boots and just climb in your sneakers.
Whatever you do, don’t leave home without a big light scarf. Find out why I always pack one in my backpacking list. My safety as a solo female traveller is paramount too. I recommend investing in the little gadgets below to help you out. As far as sunglasses go, I’m a sucker for cheap Primark ones (UK girls you know what I’m talking ’bout!) as I’m prone to losing them :/
Health and Beauty
Being a kickass chick can be tough. Here’s my favourite beauty buys to keep you looking and feeling awesome.
Look after your crown jewels and treat yourself like the goddess you are.
Books of the Month
Some books will stay here every month. Some will change. I have firm favourites I believe every traveller should read and some you should check out when the fancy takes you! Obviously, Lonely Planet Guides are my goddamn favourite!
