Clutching five bloodied fingers in my right hand and an empty bottle of whisky in the other, I wasn’t exactly in the best position. With the clock ticking, me and my friends were desperate to get our asses out of this forsaken place. Intent on solving the puzzles before us in 1800’s Whitechapel Victorian London, me and my team were racing against the clock to beat the Escape Room in Bangkok we’d (willingly?!) put ourselves into seconds before. Who’s goddamn idea was it to buy this Ticket To Mystery? Oh yeah, it was mine. Argh. Were we clever enough to make it out in time and cooperative enough to work together? Read on to find out!
In an Escape Room you say?
Yep! If you have no idea what an escape room is, have no fear (or maybe just a little bit): I’ll fill you in. With a bunch of people who you should ideally like and get along with, you agree to be locked in a themed room together for sixty minutes. What ensues is a chain of clues to help you solve some incredibly clever puzzles to get back out of that room. Expect these puzzles to put your mind to the test! You’re allowed sixty minutes for a reason. Make use of everything you’ve mentally got and you might just be lucky in being able to leave the establishment.
Let’s Get Psychological Baby: You got Skills
Psychologically speaking, this experience freaking rocks. How one person experiences, perceives and interprets a situation can be completely different to another. The skills that your coworker / boyfriend / girlfriend / best mate possesses may not be what your Mama, Papa and Mother Nature decided specifically for you. That’s what makes escape rooms and working together in a team so magical. You’ll discover things about your beautiful brain that you just didn’t know were possible: mind-blowing!
Did you make it out of there?
It was touch and go! A Ticket To Mystery has different rooms with different difficulty levels for different minds. Me and my mates tried two rooms to see how clever we were: firstly the ‘Ghost Tower’ and secondly the ‘London Ripper’. We completely failed at the first and successfully rolled out of the second one with fifteen minutes to spare on the clock, fist pumping in the air for being so awesome. ‘Let’s not talk about the first’ we agreed. ‘We don’t want to feel that stupid again’. Honestly though, we had an absolute riot in both games and will be back when we stop off in Bangkok to try the other rooms! Woop woop!
Teacake’s Top Tips
♥ You must inspect everything. Do not leave any stone unturned
♥ Don’t turn up in a miniskirt: you’ll be moving a lot in that room
♥ You’re on CCTV: staff will be watching you. If you get super stuck, you can press a buzzer and they’ll come in and give you a nudge in the right direction
