I’ve been on the road for nearly 7 years now and my glasses have been with me everyday since I’ve left! OK…maybe not the SAME pair of glasses for travelling: I put myself through some pretty crazy experiences on my travels most days. I’m hiking the world’s dangerous trails and driving from the UK to Mongolia in 2 months in rubbish cars. I need a pair of glasses which can stick with me for an affordable price and I’ve found my new favourite pair! Here’s how I got them and how awesome they really are.

How To Find The Perfect Pair Of Glasses For Travelling

Being a digital nomad, I prefer to do a lot of things online these days. You can buy pretty much anything off the internet and a pair of glasses for travelling is certainly one of these things! Vision Direct UK have an absolutely awesome, funky collection of glasses online and deliver right to your door. Nice one!

Cheaper Glasses Prices Online

Not having to run a high street store means Vision Direct’s costs are much less and they can pass these savings on to you. I was really surprised to see how price friendly their glasses actually are. The cheapest pair are just £19 and the most expensive are £100. This is so much better than what I used to pay. Being a traveller, I want to spend my money on experiences rather than items; these prices make it easy to pack a pair of top glasses without feeling guilty!

Oh, and all the lenses include anti-reflective and scratch resistant coatings in the price and are completely covered by their 100-day returns policy. Can’t complain about that!

Make Sure You Have Your Eye Subscription

The one thing you will need beforehand is your prescription. Make sure to check what you’ve entered into the site before confirming. You don’t want to get these details wrong! I actually had my eyes lasered in South Korea a couple of years ago to get perfect vision, so I didn’t need my prescription. However, I still make sure I have a pair of glasses when I go travelling. This is why…

Why I Wear Glasses For Travelling

I am so in love with biking around the world. I’ve done the whole of Vietnam on a motorbike, the north of Thailand, a good part of Cambodia and most of Taiwan. Whenever I get the chance to hop on a bike, I’m on it! Why wear glasses? There’s endless bugs flying at you, dust, dirt, wind and rain. I just find that having a pair of glasses sorts all of that out. Plus I love the look of some chunky frames on my face. There’s nothing wrong with rocking some geek chic now and then!

Select A Frame That Suits You

Your glasses need to be practical for the road but you can look stunning at the same time. You can do this by choosing frames that suit your face shape. I looked in the mirror and compared my face to the different face shapes Vision Direct show you in their left menu. I have an oval face so clicked on that option to see what they have!

From there, it was great to see all of the different clear images the site has. I looked carefully at the model photos and clicked on the different colours to see what suited my personality and look. In the end I chose the Sydney glasses!

From The Internet To My Door!

Once I’d chosen my frames and added them to my basket, it was super easy to get them delivered. Vision Direct will ask you what you’re using the glasses for (reading, distance vision etc?). They’ll ask you to choose your lens package (you can get thinner lens if you want!), they’ll want to know your prescription and then the rest is just filling in your delivery details and payment options. Voila!

My glasses for travelling took 3 days to be delivered. Once they arrived, I was happy to see them carefully packed in a strong case, with a mini screwdriver in case I needed to make any adjustments. I also received a call from Vision Direct a week later, checking to see if I was happy with everything. That’s good service!

I’ll be using them again in the future: I might just get a second back-up pair to take with me on the road! Happy travelling ladies.
